As your Chairman is deep in work budgets and reports, we thought it would be a change for you to read a “femail” version of the Clatter. You can see from the above title that I am up to date with the latest trend in communication as I believe all those who are “anybody” now twitter all day long. So it’s not just for the birds!

Enough of this frivolity and onto other matters. In such a time of economic doom and gloom its good to be able to reflect on some of the very enjoyable events recently organised by members of the FCCC. As ever the sun shone for us as we travelled the byways of the Cotswolds, discovering tracks and roads that we had either not covered before or in some cases did not even know existed! Other motorists were rather shaken to meet us on roads where normally no other form of transport is ever seen. The scenery, flowers and breaking greenery in the hedgerows made for some very scenic trips.

We liked the very natural appearance of Algar’s Manor, although the ground was rather uneven in places for those of us who are vertically challenged. It was comforting to see that even NGS gardens are allowed to have weeds and messy bits, just like the rest of us. Highnam Court was at the other end of the scale with manicured lawns, parterres and beautiful displays of mini daffs and narcissus, hats off to the gardeners! Your Chairman, in contrast, had an exciting visit to the cowsheds of Stoneleigh to look for Jaguar spare parts.

From reading the daily newspaper and watching the news on television, you could be forgiven for thinking that England could do nothing well. However we can report that Sunday lunch is alive and in excellent health in all the pubs in which the FCCC has recently eaten, we really can be proud of our roasts and should celebrate their survival. So lets feel no guilt in eating roast beef, pork or lamb for England, its good for you and the economy!

The recent skittles match sadly yielded the same result as 2008, the men won. Oh dear ladies, we shall have to put in some practice for next year, this cannot be allowed to go on. Your Treasurer was no help having achieved “nil points” in one round, how did I manage to miss all 9 skittles? That really takes skill or total ineptitude.

Thank you to all those who give time to organising club events, you provide enormous fun and pleasure for the rest of us. At £17 per couple, per year, I think FCCC membership soundly beats ASDA, TESCO or even LIDLS in the value for money stakes, as I am sure you will all agree.
